OPPORTUNITIES:
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Eligibility: Any writer with a completed novel-in-verse for middle grade or young adult readers. Writer should not be traditionally published in the children’s book market. (Self-published authors are eligible.)
All applications will be accepted via the online submission portal between May 1 and May 31 and must include the following:
-Cover letter (query letter), including synopsis of manuscript and short author bio.
-PDF of first 10 pages of manuscript. Sample must be formatted in 12-point Times New Roman, single-spaced.
Deadline is 11:59 pm, Pacific Time, May 31, 2023.
When your work is published, the author/illustrator should include in the acknowledgment, “This book was made possible in part by a grant from SCBWI.”

Eligibility: Any artist, cartoonist, writer/illustrator with an unpublished graphic novel project. Applicants should not have traditionally published a comic or graphic novel. (Applicants who have published other types of books are still eligible.)
All applications will be accepted via the online submission portal between May 1 and May 31 and must include the following:
-An autobiographical statement and career summary in less than 250 words.
-PDF of 3 to 5 pages of sample panels. (Sample may be drawn from any part of the novel.)
-A full summary of the book, including the ending. PDF, 2 pages double-spaced.
-OPTIONAL sample of graphic novel script. Submit as PDF, 5 pages maximum, single-spaced script format.
Deadline is 11:59 pm, Pacific Time, May 31, 2023.
